Introduction of AMD Radeon R9 285
The graphics card referred to by AMD Radeon R9 285 will be the focus of discussion in this article. It includes tables, images, data, charts, estimates of costs, and playthrough reports for games included in the bundle. It’s easy to form negative opinions about the life of someone who is obsessed with engaging in video gaming.
Recently, a small number of graphics chips have been repurposed into a broad assortment of “generations” of different types of devices. Although the basic GPU technology is remarkable, the continual iterations may become a chore. I was Thrilled when I first heard that AMD was preparing to unveil the coming launch of the AMD Radeon R9 285.
Although the processor, given the codename Tonga, could not be groundbreaking or innovative in any way, it was the basis for his R9 285 graphics card.
AMD Radeon R9 285 Graphics Card
AMD introduced to the marketplace its high-performance graphics card dubbed AMD Radeon R9 285. The card was created by a process with an output of 28 nanometers. It’s a re-creation of the Tonga PRO model, part of the Tonga graphics processor. The device is compatible with DirectX 12 software.
You can rest assured that you can play games with this Radeon R9 285, which will be equipped to play any newly released video game with no issues. This Tonga graphic processor has an area of 366 mm in width and 5 billion transistors. AMD needed to shut down several shading units of the Radeon R9 285 to reach the shading count 2048, even though they had fully locked the Radeon R9 285X using the identical GPU.
This was done to meet the required number of shaders. It has 32 ROPs and 112 units of texture mapping, as well as 1792 shader units in one package. The memory interface of 256 bits is utilized to connect the 2,048 megabytes of GDDR5 RAM included with the AMD Radeon R9 285 graphics card.
The graphics processor runs at 918 MHz, and the RAM operates at 1375 MHz. This yields an effective transfer speed of 5.5 Gbps. This AMD Radeon R9 285 model can run up to 90 Watts of power. Since it is a dual-slot technology, it requires two power connectors with six pins each in length.
For video outputs, you can access two DVI and 1x HDMI 1.4a and 1x DisplayPort 1.2, all simultaneously. The Radeon R9 285 can be linked to the other components of your PC using a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 connector, which is accessible. It features a dual-slot cooling system and measures 221 mm wide, 39 mm wide, and 109 mm high. Initially offered to the public, the price was $249.

Radeon R9 285 – the Digital Foundry verdict
Is Nvidia losing ground to AMD in the capability to compete effectively? There is no doubt that AMD has established a clear advantage in performance in this industry, and the results are evident within gaming as an immediate result of this advantage. Despite the decline in clocks’ and memory bus speed, AMD saw significant performance improvements.
While it’s accurate that AMD’s Tonga GPU can boost raw frame rates, it remains extremely power-hungry. This could be a problem for PCs with smaller dimensions, but it’s not an issue for gamers. It’s not just that AMD plans to take over the leading position in terms of performance with its R9 285 and R9 280 graphics cards; however, the company took steps to ensure its reputation was maintained by creating high-end products.
The price of the launch is reasonable, and purchasers of an AMD 285x will be able to play any of the three games with the Never Settle gaming bundle, which also includes the forthcoming game Alien: Isolation and Star Citizen (the same deal is also available for the R9 285 and R9 280, as well as the other premium Radeon graphics cards).
It’s also important to know that this is a new GCN chip with TrueAudio hardware, even though the software support is limited. In the next few months, an unlocked version of the CPU will likely be available as a brand-new R9 285X. The launch of the brand-new Tonga chip is a sign that more will be announced soon.
